air conditioning gone :( - $2-3000 fix

took car to dealer because air conditioning not working

they said compressor gone

it is 1 year out of warranty

they said they would ask VW for assistance - otherwise cost $2000-3000 to fix!!!

My Air Conditioner has been making a tingling noise since new. I've written to Skoda/VW Aust and informed them that there is plenty of Forums stating the fact that the compressors used by VW Auto Group are not up to scratch. I beleive my air conditioner will fail as well. Two dealers have failed to find faults. (I actually don't think dealers like fixing warranty work) Keep me informed. This forum and in particular the Superb forum including Briskoda have plenty of complaints about air conditioning failures. I suggest you bring this to the attention of VW Australia if they don't help you out.

They have (discovered &)replaced mine (Air con compressor) at the same time while performing a warranty job of my alternator (bearing failed). It does saves me sometime :banana:

have to pay a couple of hundred for something or other (sealant? something?)..
