Hi All,

about to to pick up my brand new Scirocco R in silver. Just wanted people's opinion/ experiences/ knowledge on how to drive a car as in driving it hard is better or taking it easy to break in the engine. Is this really relevant anymore? I've heard it's better to not wrap it in cotton wool so to speak and drive usually how you drive.

Thanks in advance.

Drive it in hard. From our experience, if driven hard from day 1, less oil consumption down the line (common complaint), also be nice with the FSI engines, and give them an interim oil change every 7,500km's

Don't completely flog it but driven moderately hard is the way to go. Gradually increase the rpm over the first few thousand kms.

Beware the "green" brake pads until bedded in.

There's a million opinions on this but if you dont "baby it" and dont "flog it" there's nothing specific required.

Just drive it normally.

Drive it like a Green P plater.

I.E. not floor all the time, like red p plater, but give it some boot now and then!
