Hey!

Picked up a new Caddy (MY15) TDI in Ravenna Blue a few months back with the full colour coded option, have since done the following -

Gloss Black Front Grilles
Custom Forge Wheels - 19x9"
Bilstein Coilovers & Super Low Axle Flip Kit
Throttle Response Controller
Crescendo Component Speakers
Hertz Amp
(Hertz Sub to be installed).

The front coilovers didn't go as low as i had hoped, and i'm having troubles with the rear end as the weight i carry varies 300kg and it either sits too high for my liking or it sits on bumpstops (which are already cut down). Inner guards have also been modified to fit the wheels.
Full AccuAir E-Level Air Suspension kit is being installed in 2 weeks!

The vehicle is used as Paint Correction & Paint Protection mobile unit so the inside has been fully fitted out with custom ply line (carpeted), Motextion Bulkhead, Custom 300L Water Tank, hidden Pressure Washer, 12v Water Pump (with garden hose), Silent Generator etc etc...

Airbags will most likely be the last mod for now (except a tune), will look at fitting a Golf R front end, and maybe custom R style rear bar down the track.

Whats the airbag set up cost you and does it require engineering?

Thanks!

No interior mods yet, did think about changing the seats but to be honest i dont know if i can be bothered as the seat rail height is different to the hatch backs.

The kit i am getting is an AccuAir E-Level Kit with Touchpad Controller from Home Page (http://www.airrexsuspension.com.au) - I am driving up to QLD to get it installed by the distributor (i know him personally so will help install it).

I bought the bags and lines second hand from a guy that had them in a Caddy and i bought all the components (ECU/Fuses/Controller/Tank/Compressor etc.) brand new, basically what you see in this - AccuAir e-Level System with Touchpad Controller - Featured Products (http://www.airrexsuspension.com.au/index.php/featured-products/accuair-e-level-system-with-touchpad-controller.html)

Yeah i'll have to get it engineered, the bags and brackets i'm buying second hand have been engineered previously so there should be no problems with it passing.

If you bought it all brand new you would be looking at around $5200 + $2500 installation i believe.

yea you basically just need to get touran seat bases and then you can fit any vag seats similar to golf mk5+ release
i got mine from germany fairly cheap, postage was more than the actual item. from memory it was around $250 or so. it was my 1st mod as these caddy seats were terrible

Thanks for the tip! I did see some nice Scirocco R seats on Ebay for sale a month ago, i was tempted!

I dont mind the seats in it, not sure if the MY15 is different to the previous ones as it also has Bluetooth and Cruise control, i dont think the previous models have that included standard? I remember when i looked at the ones VW had on display when i ordered mine 8 months ago the seats were different to the ones i have.

Air bags are in!

Still have some modifications to make to get it lower, rear leaf springs need to be reset so we can get it lower and i need to notch the front, at the moment the front tyre sits about 15mm in the guard but the guard lip is sitting hard on the tyre so i'll probably have to run 225's as i dont want to roll the guards. Here are some quick pics i took on my phone, will post up more of the setup later.

nice, looks awesome. now you need some big brakes to fill these voids in the wheels ! i got all my components for r32 brakes conversion. just need to get someone to swap them over.

Superior

Thanks,

Between center hub and guard it sits at 310mm Rear and 290mm Front, once i make up new airbag mounts on the rear it will sit at 290mm all round, undecided if i will notch the front since it will all be level and pretty low anyway.

Where did you get your brakes from? Were they easy to find? How much did they cost?

looks so good.. the only thing that bugs me about caddy is the different mirrors.. why couldnt they just have 2 big ones..

Superior
14-01-2015, 08:47 PM
Yep looks so weird from the front, i don't get the point of it. Inside the car visually there is no difference in vision, the drivers side has a blind spot curve but the passenger side doesn't, don't know why they just didn't put the blind spot curve mirror on the passenger side.

Wouldn't mind putting some Golf mirror on it.

I agree. Just looks odd and doesn't suit my OCD.

I'm going to get a large mirror from a LHD and mod it to reflect correctly.

why not get golf mk5 mirrors and mod them ? also, mk7 golf have their mirrors mounted on the actual door skin rather than how it is mounted on caddy, wonder if it would be an easy mod ? blank the old mirror positions and drill new ones in..

Man, this is the best looking Caddy I've seen. Period. You just need bigger brakes. :P

The mirror conversions aren't cheap. Not saying they're overpriced.. There's just a lot of work in doing them.

yea, bigger brakes to fill them 19s. i just had r32 brakes installed, looks good with 18s but might be a lil small with 19s'.

I almost bought a set of Golf R Brakes for $800 but i couldn't justify spending the money just to fill a gap in the front wheels. Plus i'd have to get a bigger spare as the stock spare wont fit with those brakes. :(

psyone - Which Facebook Page? I'm on a few VW one's but i never saw a post? :)

Its on Australian Performance VW Group page. I didnt really think about a spare tyre when i got the brakes. I guess i should take mine out since its at no use now.

Few pics from the last few months, still a few more mods to go.

Want to add Golf Mirrors, change the top grill to a Highline Grill with the chrome strips, and add the fog lights on the lower grill to break up the black inserts.

how do you find having 19's? hows the ride

Superior
04-07-2015, 07:13 PM
I pretty much had the wheel on it from the day I picked it up so cant compare it to anything.

I drive with the bags fairly deflated so the ride is usually bumpy, but if I raise it about 25% the ride is very smooth as the airbags take a lot of the shock.

Hardest part is dodging potholes and not going up drive ways on an angle as the tyre profile is so low the sidewall compresses and the rim hits the road. 😂

might just stick to 18's
