While I'd love the S2000 Polo to come to our shores to compete in the ARC, I don't believe it's very likely.

From a marketing perspective, if they're going to rally anything, they're probably going to rally a Skoda, in order to try and gain some brand awareness.

According to this, it's a "silhouette" series -- the engine/drivetrain is controlled from a limited number of manufacturers. I'm not sure the NA 2L engine in the Polo S2000 is even a VAG product. Anyone know?

Yep it is VAG (or at least started off as original 2L block).

Tech specs of the Polo S2000 offered by Rene Georges Rallysport in Belgium, around 200,000 Euro. They are supplied to him by VW South Africa and he then does his thing to them, you can get the direct from South Africa from VW Motorsport as well.

Hi all, just came across this forum,

Im from South Africa, spoke to a technician from VW motorsport south africa in July, he told me they were building 2 Polo's for Aus, so im pretty sure you guys will see them running there this year.

I can promise you they are awesome, were lucky to have 4 running this year , along with 5 Toyota's so were in good shape S2000 wise here in SA,

We have 3 guys running their "spare" cars in regional events as well!

Ok so I hadn't been following this till I saw the article on another a forum. This is sooo cool. I had no idea it was going to happen, privateer or factory, it's awesome news.

So the ARC site currently states Spectator Info coming soon. But has anyone been to the Canberra Rally before? I've thought bout it lots of times but never had a reason as good as this to go. I think the Syd & Cbr Polo owners need to make the effort to go and support the team in Canberra. Who's in? It's on 10-11 May.
