After being impressed with the nice shift on my own Polo, I got an extra in with my last PSI Tuning order.

Please check the link below to see if it will fit yours, definitely doesn't fit the AGU box :(

$145 plus a tenner for shipping overnight.

I reckon that's a problem at Forge's end.

FMVAG5QS is the part number. http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/fmvag5qs.pdf install instructions

Hey Gav, how much do you reckon it would cost to have someone install this??

It wouldn't be harder than doing the dog bone. 30 minutes to an hour tops. The slight drama for std cars is the battery and airbox obscure most of the job.

Forge claim it doesn't do the AGU engine gearbox combo, in their product description. I think this is due to the cable arrangement. If I get a minute tomorrow though, I'll see if it will go on the gearbox. Then we could look into what the score is with the shifter cables.

It did Clif and I edited it, as I originally missed the "n't" out... Sorry for the confusion there. I went to try it on the box I have at home forgetting the shifter tower was swapped off it. So I can't try it. :( I'll have a look under the bonnet of Blackers10s Golf next time I see him and check if Forge are correct. I'd be surprised if they weren't but it would be handy to know what the differences are.

Do you know if this fits 02A boxes - they say early VAG 5 Speed - so you'd assume so, but there's no mention of VR6 etc. I already have one, just never installed it, was gonna put it in the MK1. I was thinking of doing the 02J shifter converstion anyways.

Gav how does this work with 9n3? Install instructions show a ball and socket, mine has a straight shaft for the shift cable?

Comes with 3 different pins, one of which is the right one.

No it isn't mate. AGU is the code for the engine in the MK4 GTI over here. Forge Motorsport Adjustable Quick Shifter for VAG 6 Speed Models > Transmission > A3 8L 1996-2003 > AUDI A3/S3 > VW Specialists > PSI Tuning - VW Audi Specialists (http://www.psituning.com/product.php/19066/forge_motorsport_adjustable_quick_shifter_for_vag_ 6_speed_models) there is one that will fit your gearbox. I am going to put in an order this week if you want, I can add one to the order for you.

dunno. I was pretty keen on the diesel geek one up until now have you tried both and recommendation? my gearbox is starting to feel a little loose on (bit of left right movement when its in gear) was going to see if a short shift would help a bit and a bit of an upgrade while I'm there.

I doubt you would come across many that have tried Forge and Diesel Geek on the same car. There's nothing wrong with the one for the polo.

It depends where the slack in your gearchange is, most likely neither will fix worn out linkages.

I've just played this game, some movement should be expected, but you can order the plastic bush/sleeves that tighten all that up pretty cheaply either locally through vw, online at ECS et al. I think one of the other forum members had a 'floppy knob' kit for sale in the classifieds recently that might work. I found between a couple of new plastic bits and the forge lever things tightened up enough I stopped caring mostly. Just be aware the tighter you go, the more precise you'll need to be with the shifts.

And while I'm thinking about it, Gav my plastic printed shift bushes are still going hard!
