The Audi A6 3.0 TDI quattro sedan has again been named the “Best Luxury Car over $80,000” at the 2012 Drive Car of the Year awards.

Audi Australia’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Anna Burgdorf, was presented with the award yesterday at the Drive Car of the Year 2012 presentation, held at the Sebel Pier One Hotel in Sydney. The premium Drive Car of the Year awards encompass the Fairfax newspapers, The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and drive.com.au.

The Audi A6 received the prize for the “Best Luxury Car over $80,000”, ahead of stiff competition from a newcomer to the category, the Lexus GS350.

In describing why the A6 earned the award, The Age journalist and COTY judge Steve Colquhoun said: „The A6 is the ultimate corporate express. It’s a car that’s luxurious and comfortable, but that 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine makes sure that you never get left behind.“

Fellow COTY judge Jonathan Hawley was also glowing in his praise of the A6: “It’s last year’s winner for the over $80,000 luxury award and you can see why. It handles really well, it’s got a cracking diesel engine and it’s just a good luxury car.”

Audi Australia’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Anna Burgdorf, was pleased to accept the award on behalf of the entire Audi team.

“We are pleased that the A6 3.0 TDI has again been awarded such an accolade by the Drive Car of the Year judges. The A6 embodies everything that makes an Audi such a special car to drive, with its sporty performance, progressive technology and sophisticated design,” said Ms Burgdorf.
