    R Wagon with DA and Dynaudio, not exactly sure, $60K-$64K ? I dunno if they’re even taking orders

    Wolfsburg Wagon, no roof. $62-$64K.

    I’ve seen one Wolfsburg Wagon (no roof) that went for $61,750 plus boot liner. But I think that’s not going to be repeated. Having said that, same dealer was offering another at $62,500 was the price on the window. Neither were in Vic, were I am.

    Up to $64K would probably still be an attractive price for same spec Wolfsburg. The issue I have is the one at my local VW is now a 2017 build, it’s been driven 100+ ks, and had grass clippings in the boot last time I stuck my head in.

    I’d get a grid tomorrow, but wife wants leather seats...

    My SWMBO is the same. Must be a chick thing.
    We had heated leather seats in our V6 Bora since circa 2004, and she wasn't expecting same comfort in Golf Mk 7.
    But my (our ?) R came with leather and heaters, so everybuddy happy.
    [Note to self. Remember to do the seat heater memory tweak before winter.]

    I reckon the leather improves the look of the interior of the car. Pretty happy with it in my current TSI, and wouldn't want to 'drop down' to the normal interior in the Grid.

    +1.. as I've said before, I couldn't imagine spending $50k+ on a car and not having leather.

    Leather definitely looks "schmikest", but I've always preferred the feel of fabric. The stuff they use nowadays is super durable and breathes really well. It just needs more care with vacuuming. It wouldn't have bothered me if the R wasn't available with leather for whatever reason.

    I had leather in my GTI and it looked awesome, back to fabric in my R and will never get leather again. The feel is much better and doesn’t need as much up keep.

    <smirk>

    I tend to not park in the sun much, or have the sun shade up if I do (and park into the sun then).

    Had leather in my Mk6 GTI and was ok, still looked fresh after three years with zero maintenance. Tried cloth in my Mk7 mainly for the tartan look which was nice - but more upkeep and couldn't imagine a plain finish in a $50k+ car.

    The Audi and BMW finish was obviously a step up, but the Nappa used in the 7.5 Wolfsburg looks the goods and feels amazing. I sometimes find myself rubbing the passenger seat at the lights..
