Presents arrived from the US today! I’m a bit iffy on the foam padding so I might track down a proper rubberised horse hair one, but the hood and headliner look great : )

The old hood was cactus unfortunately. It was ripped most of the way round the rear window and full of big holes so not in any state to use.
It took about 4 hours to remove it all. Yeah I did a...
I had a productive day working on the Cabby today. I completely removed the roof fabric, padding and headliner ready for the new stuff to go on.
I also sorted the cluster surround and missing...
I’ll grab a pic of the strips, but it won’t be until the weekend. Ive got a set of 5 at the moment and the driver’s door strip is meant to be on it’s way to me.
It’s a shame because the passenger...
A few parts turned up from VW Heritage today, but the roof is still about 3 weeks from showing up.
I replaced the thick rubber waistline trims with the older style anodised aluminium trims, fitted...
Has anyone else got/had this problem? It looks like the door has been wrenched open too hard at some point and it’s tried to pull the check strap out of the body. The door will open up to almost 90...
You know you own a MK1 when it breaks down 2km from where you bought it, and you still have 85km to go to get home.
Did some PDR on the driver’s door and removed the ugly fuel requirement sticker above the filler cap.
And ordered a new roof. So much work to do!
I can't see the pm. Are you able to send it again? Thanks!
Thanks! Let me check the colour of the belts over the weekend (my mrs thinks they're grey now) and then I'll shoot you a message.
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a few interior parts from a late MK1 Cabriolet and was wondering if anyone is wrecking one. Ours is a 1993 model .
The parts I'm after are:
Lower dash panel that...
Thanks! It's next on the list for a bit of TLC once the Cabby is finished.

Thanks! I'll have to look at the options. I thought a VR6 would be a massive amount of work but a complete car came up cheap recently.
Here's the rest of our VW family.

Just thought I'd say hi again!
Me and my mrs are now the proud owners of a well used '93 MK1 Cabby auto. It's the 4th VW in our family and it's a bit of a project.
The first thing I want to do...
I pulled the spark plugs out today and did a dry compression test. The spark plugs are a bit black, but none were cleaner/dirtier than the others.
On the compression test all cylinders were at about...
It's a blue/grey smoke so I'm fairly confident its oil. It started happening pretty suddenly too.
Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm going to get it booked in this coming week but didn't want to go in...
Luckily it was sold in December 2013 so we've still got warranty on it.
Thanks! We bought it last year with only 14000km on it and my girlfriend doesn't do a lot of ks. I got my Golf GTI in...
Hey guys, I noticed today that my girlfriend's MY13 6R GTI is smoking noticeably at idle and on acceleration.
When I jumped in it to have a drive it also seems well down on power.
The smoke...
Damn! Only saw that Vento the other day. Didn't he only just buy it?

Is that your car dylan8? If it is I was parked next to you at DOVW.
Nice wheels! Good luck with sale
Saw this in Melton today. Looks awesome! Is the new owner on here?
The 6 speed in the GTI/PP and R is the culprit. My girlfriend has a Polo GTI with the 7 speed DSG and no such issues.
Wonder if a DSG remap would fix it?
Thanks for confirming! It's back to normal now it's cooled down a bit.
My Focus ST never used to feel flat on a really hot day, just went a lot better on a nice cold day so this surprised me in my...
