Hi all,
Firstly to all the people that have sent me PM's over the last few months, sorry! I've been working OS and not paying attention to the forums as the GTI was 15000kms away :)
Anyway, the...

Coding is almost definitely the problem. I saw exactly the same thing...
I'm doing the OEM RVC next, then LED tail lights. Without the VCDS I wouldn't even contemplate it, too difficult to coordinate resources to perform the coding. Jump on-board, get one!! :)
Pair with Bluetooth yes, but try plugging it in to the iPod adapter in the glove box, it won't charge it. And sorry, but I refuse to fix the brake lights on an $80K car, let them earn their money :)
I just sold a 2008 2.0 Turbo Audi TT, and purchased a MY12 GTI.
I would NEVER buy a TT again. I had no end of small problems with the damn thing:
Faulty rear brake lights earth. 3 times visit...
Sound advice, that's exactly what I'm going to do although I'm looking at a JVC for around $350 and a steering wheel module for around $50. $400 all up with Bluetooth and iPod integration, that's...
It appears the RNS510 is manufactured by Continental AG:

I am in shock at how poor these maps can be. I went down to the Mornington Peninsula on the weekend to visit some friends who live in Blairgowrie. The damn thing didn't have the suburb at all! Why is...
I'm in Melbourne SE suburbs with a Micro-CAN VCDS, happy to help out anyone.
LOL, yes, a little bit of luxury and a little bit of retro. Those Japanese sure know how to live ;)
I guess I could throw it in as see what happens, I'm aiming to get a RCD510 to ISO harness adapter, then an ISO to whatever I buy adapter to reduce cutting and soldering. An extra $20 to see how the...
Good advice, thanks. I'll head in to JB tomorrow for a look around. I'll have room for a 2 DIN and just assumed that is what I would have to replace with, but now that you mention a dash pocket it's...
Hi Lams,
Yep, that's pretty much my conclusion as well now, I didn't realise I would need to customise the faceplate, that sealed it for me :)
Now I need to choose an appropriate double din...
It's practically brand new, only in the car for 1 week before the RNS510 retrofit :)
PM me if you would like any additional info.
It will fit, I've got a dual din adapter to replace the OEM subaru system. Hmmm....a CANBUS emulator you say, this is starting to sound a little more complicated than I had hoped :)
Hi guys,
Now that I have replaced my RCD510 with a RNS510 I've got a decision to make. The radio in my wife's Subaru Outback is pretty much dead, CD and Tape deck no longer work and there is no...
I asked yesterday and they were surprised that I was the first one to hit this issue, no one else had been back. Anyway, they agreed it was rather odd and supplied me with an iPod cable at no charge.
Thanks guys,
I took the car back to the dealer yesterday and they agreed the drivers door was rather difficult to shut. After a couple of small adjustments and a little silicon grease it's now...
Well for $150 it's a pretty good deal I guess. Still, for an extra $150 you could have a lot of fun with a VCDS cable ;)
OK, quick update in case someone else has this problem. It turns out I'm an idiot. The MDI cable supplied with new vehicles is USB. I assumed that I could simply plug an iPod cable in to the USB...
OK, so the inclusion on frameless models makes sense. Given that is is supported on the Passat and EOS, is is a programmable option on the Golf, or do those other models use a different system?
Hi everyone,
My last car was a 2008 Audi TT (the GTI is better!!) and it had a pretty cool feature that I would like to see in the GTI. When you open the door, the car would automatically drop...
If dealer install is more than $299 DON'T DO IT! Honestly, it really is very easy, so if the price is more than the purchase price of a VAG-COM cable you are better off doing it yourself and getting...
Nope, the internal unlock button is disabled as part of the deadlock process. Just have to make sure you do a double button press on the remote and it's all good.
PM me when you get it, I'm also in Melbourne and happy to help with the coding. Not sure if it's the same as the GTI but it will be documented somewhere out there :)
