I just got back from a trip in my bi-turbo multi, did the plenty highway on 18" rims. The Qld side is attrocious, and I destroyed 3 tyres and one wheel. The NT side is corrugated but manageable.

Kombi - those oil temps are the same as what I see, and I consider it normal.
I've never had an issue with my 2011 bi-turbo; no doubt a small percentage are affected by this issue. It barely used any engine oil (far less than a previous Golf 5 tdi) I owned).
I got an ecu...
Mine powers down after 15 minutes or so, even with the key in.
Using a continuous power source would best, as suggested above the cigarette lighter may work.
Sounds like a fun adventure! There are quite a few suppliers of very good quality equipment for these vans, Reimo is a good example.

I personally would never service the dsg in any other way than what VW intends (every 60k km's).
The same could be said of any car with a turbo...
I enjoy driving all wheel drive cars, it mates up very well with big power turbo engines.
Agreed, that price is on par for a dealer (or a little less than usual TBH).

That is cool, but it's old news.
