    I think the revised gearbox stubs for the driveshafts are just longer for more engagement, so they don't strip or wear splines out so much. Haven't done them myself.

    T5's had a prob where the driveshaft splines would wear from lack of lube, causing clunks. More prevalent in manuals than autos, i think.T6s you would think...

    The older T5 (2.5L 5cyl single turbo) TDI engines are good IMO. No timing belt, all gear driven motor.Mines still running strong, only done a waterpump. They do 180km/h flat out :) (128KW)
