I'm dreading the day mine lets me down, actually on the road.
Auto rebuilt, waterpump(did it myself), doorlocks(did 'em myself), window cables(myself), some other small bits and pieces....

IIRC i think it was a D part no. is what you want to see
Unless the price is really good and its had/has the updated EGR cooler early in its life, i'd pass.
could be lots of things.
oil/water ok? up to temp water temp ok, normally 90C
get a code reader on it?
probably need pics to get help from a T4 guru.
Wouldn't think theres any mechanical component that requires a vacuum line on an ECU
been a long time since my gearbox was done, but Dave at Automatics of Marion, did some of his own fixes to the box, and i seem to recall him mentioning placing some dowel pins in there to stop...
and two years later the drivers side electric window goes ...pppiiinnnggg!!
Two years ago the passenger side had a similar failure (see post 109)
Anyway, replaced a damaged cable and broken...
I stopped using photobucket years ago, after their pitiful upload quota and wanting $$$ all the time.
Just use free MS One Drive now for forum stuff. I think it's first 15GB free
lots of things can cause limp mode. If you can get a code reader on it, it may help with troubleshooting
Well done.
I think the revised gearbox stubs for the driveshafts are just longer for more engagement, so they don't strip or wear splines out so much. Haven't done them myself.
Mine only cost $9K for a full rebuild ;), although it was in and out 3 or 4 times, doing partial fixes. Maybe would have been $6K-7K for a once off full rebuild.
It was pretty much all good till...
Are you sure it's not a driveshaft?
T5's had a prob where the driveshaft splines would wear from lack of lube, causing clunks. More prevalent in manuals than autos, i think.T6s you would think...
If you know someone with a Rosstech to get any codes?
Some OBD readers do not get everything with VW
I'd think some intermittent wiring fault going by that.
Aren't there some earth points under the battery area(not sure).Check tightness/reseat
Can you get a code reader on it?
I'm presuming you've checked the tightness of the battery connections?
Do multivans have a second battery under the front seats?
I didn't either!!
SC, my advice would be to get yourself an air/oil cooler, if you're keeping the van for a while. Think mine was about $500 fitted (after it was fixed).
The standard coolant/oil cooler lets the oil...
The older T5 (2.5L 5cyl single turbo) TDI engines are good IMO. No timing belt, all gear driven motor.Mines still running strong, only done a waterpump. They do 180km/h flat out :) (128KW)
Watch the...
T5 2.5 Alternator removal - The Brick-yard
yes, i think they are the same, but check part nos. if you're concerned.
I'm at 190Kish km .
Haven't replaced them yet. Alternator coupling has about 1mm slop
I very much doubt a road regoed ADR complied vehicle would lack a handbrake
my 04 has a handbrake
There was a recall for 04 models for handbrake issues.Mine still has the recall sticker
checked the gates coupling to see if alternator has consistent drive?
the couplings are a maintenance item. 180K km replacement, i think
I don't really use the convex ones for distance, it's just so i know if there's someone there, outside the field of the VW mirrors
my van has no windows at all down each side. Just have to be careful merging with traffic and reversing. Those stick-on convex mirrors help too.
