VW official specs for ring gap on 1.4 TSI CAVD/CTHD:

I have to admit, it does seem slow - i have a mk6 1.4 tsi twincharger and with no mods it was getting about 7.2s 0-100km/h using the above method to measure.
I've always measured from tach movement - as it effectively includes clutch engagement delay (which you should account for as that's what VW would be taking into account on it's measurements for a...
Not that i want to pour petrol on the fire....but if you have a warranty with the dealership, a code will be logged for the over rev condition, and they may deny any clutch / gearbox warranty.
The...
This engine takes 3.6 litres.
The oil light should only come on when the oil is practically off the dipstick - i.e. you check the oil and nothing is showing on the dipstick other than perhaps a...
The seal should be replaced with a special tool - if not it is easy to damage and hence leak.
Also the crankshaft surface must have no oil or grease on it when it is inserted into the seal - as...
2 hours labour - this will be the front seal, i.e. the pulley side.
That seal is about $50 AUD from VW, and is separate part no. 038103085E - it fits into the timing chain cover and can be renewed...
Possible timing chain has slipped a tooth......is power down in general?
The timing chain can slip if the crankshaft is turned in the opposite direction of travel (ie. anti clockwise from the...
Interesting Survey:
What 4 letter word are people substituting for **** ?
Me personally i've gone straight for the C!
2013 you should be fine - it will have the newer KS pistons of which there have been no reported failures. All the other problems have also been fixed....just avoid DSG models.
When cranking is the RPM needle moving? - if not then problem is the crankshaft position sensor / wiring.
9 times out of 10 the 'rattle' is misdiagnosed as a loose timing chain or failing chain tensioner.
On this engine it is almost never the chain or tensioner that makes this noise - the noise on...
That's ok if you also want to change the entire box to a manual box ;) (That's not a DSG clutch pack)
Yes, LUK do not do a clutch pack with Kevlar disks - that clutch pack is a modified LUK pack by TMG performance, they take a normal LUK clutch pack and replace the clutch plates with custom Kevlar...
Heard it all before from VW....new revised clutch back fitted in 2012, on my Mk6 160ps (118kw)....15000 miles later its shuddering. Come 2015, new revised clutch pack fitted. 20,000 miles later its...
That turbo is on my shopping list!, along with an LSD and kevlar dual clutch from TMG at some point
Shame!....Shame!....Shame!
I've purchased R8 coils and the adapter a year ago and had them shipped to the UK - no problems at all with the company.
I know here in the UK at least, all VW dealerships will never use second hand parts or non genuine parts - all parts must come from VW parts department.
The other thing VW dealership mechanics...
The CTHE revision of the twincharger is a good reliable engine - solely because of the updated pistons which are no longer produced by mahle but are KS pistons. It was problems with the casting of...
Definitely a worn clutch pack - happens all too often on the 7 speed dry clutch DSG.
Your described symptoms are exactly how these start to fail, with the shuddering gradually getting worse as you...
It is somewhat common for the early generation 1.4 tsi twinchargers to burn their exhaust valves.
Low compression will either be that or a cracked piston (rare on the early gen 1.4 TSI's)
...
There is a little microswitch inside the gear selector unit that tells it when its in park - this commonly fails by intermittently sticking and results in the symptoms you are having. Eventually the...
KS pistons are now what are fitted as standard in 2012 engines onwards. VW switched from using Mahle to KS pistons....not heard of any 2012 CAVD/E or CTHD engine cracking its pistons.
Stock...
That is crazy! - must of cost a fortune - new/custom crankshaft, rods, pistons...the entire bottom end.
7500rpm from a stroked engine, man I can't see that getting to 100k miles and 427nm torque!...
