Just an update, got the shifter replaced under warranty, however they got the wrong one so am getting it re-replaced next week.

Yeah I tend to rest my hand on the shifter. Surprised that would be enough to do it though, my hands are usually quite clean, maybe I need driving gloves...

As soon as you look for the button it becomes obvious. It's a dedicated button, never noticed it before. I'm sure the dealer told me about it but I was too busy thinking 'shut up and let me drive'

I've got a safe and sound rear facing seat in my octavia. Put it all the way onto the passenger side and could still cram 2 smaller side female adults next to it (5'5" < 60kg).
