I need to check the leads. But I'm pretty sure they are in the right order...
Some carb-fiddling might solve the problem. Perhaps the needle setting aren't identical on all four...
Silly...

Silly...
Yes it runs on all four...
The brakes are stock. So definitely needs an upgrade!
I sure do!
- Some more fiddling with the carbs is needed.
- I need to learn how to set the ignition timing.
- Need to rethink my brake setup.
The car is sloooow. It doesn't feel any faster...
Not much of an update but....! I took my car for a spin! Incredible feeling. It's not running perfect but it doesn't matter! It moves!!!
That's one beautiful mk1! Well done! Love the color.
It's always one step forward and twelve steps back!!!
I removed the carb and manifold and found a stripped thread. It caused an air leak between the head and the manifold... Got that fixed and...
I finally got some time on my hands. The noise issue is solved! I removed the inner timing belt cover. All problems solved! Got a brand new water pump as well... All is good!
The carbs need some...
The noise is still there when the v-belt is removed...
Currently believing/hoping that the inner timing belt cover is the cause.
But... How the hell do I remove it? Do I need to remove the...
Thanks! I'll give the tube a try!
I thought it was something going on with the torque converter in the auto box but the car moves freely when engaging drive and reverse. So I don't I don't think...
So... How bad is this? It makes this horrible screeching noise and I can't figure out where it comes from... https://vimeo.com/160507775
Any ideas? If I turn the engine by hand I can't hear it......
I managed to get a temporary exhaust welded up in order to get on with the project until I've gathered the cash for a new exhaust. It looks ****ty and it goes from 58mm to 42mm. So I guess it's quite...
Is it just covered in carbon? Or what's going on there?
Nice! A shame it's only 8v covers. I would love a sporty looking 16v one.
Got it! The 60mm is outside diameter. So I guess it's perfect then!
I need to keep looking then. I can't seem to find anything smaller than 60mm (2.36 in) locally.
It's been a while... And not much has happened. A lack of funds and spare time have slowed down my little project. Hoping to get it going soon!
But I do have a question for you guys regarding...
What a shame! Look at those mirrors... Eeewww!
Ouch!! That looks very painful. I hope that the neck and chest pains are only temporary!
They are divided halfway down. It makes it very easy to install. I can't figure out any other reason than that... I'll take pictures next time.
Mmmm new parts...

Angle grinder is a quick and easy solution...
I'm just a bit worried about rubbing. And yes I'm not in for the scene points!

How about tires? I'm thinking about running 165/50's. That much stretch would make them more likely to fit. But... It does look a bit silly when the car isn't slammed...
There is still a big difference between ET 13 and ET 28. Time will tell if it's gonna be okay. But if they rub, I'm not gonna use them.
Great! Thanks fammo!
