There is an extra nose bit on the crank of a t4 that comes off with a hammer. That's the only difference auto to manual. Easy. Let me know bud.

Probably a broken wire. Peel back the rubber boots on the electrical connectors to the unit and see if there are obvious breaks.

Yes but there was no electronics in the old autos. Lots of electronics, bathed in hot oil, slamming around under a big heavy van with tdi torque...
