VW Transporter T5 LWB 2.5TD

Hi all, first time poster in here.

I have a silver T5 2.5TD that has been quite good to me so far, until recently when the camshaft wore so badly that it made a noise like a single cylinder dump truck! Due to this forum coming up on a google search and a specialist garage in Annangrove called volksMuller being highly recommended, I decided to take it there to get it fixed.

I have done quite a bit of work on cars over the years including rebuilding engines, however I no longer have easy access to tools and workshop space and amenities, so as much as I want to pull the engine apart myself and get stuck in, it's much better for me to hand it over to the experts.

The guys mentioned they will take pictures of the progress they make on the van, I'll be very interested to see the damage that the camshaft has caused - at this stage I'm expecting to see the lifter worn through since the noise was so bad...

Fingers crossed for an easy fix.

So, it's before 7/2006 build, right?
What engine oil did you use?
