Retro fitting footwell lights from http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/315636

    Hi
Has anyone bought parts from this store or used this website and their payment system. This particular store has some interesting stuff way below the prices for parts sold on eBay. Some sound really good as they include the additional wiring that often is not sold on eBay.

Really keen on retro fitting the footwell lights and door warning lights. Pity they only do a fog light kit for the Golf 6

No ... not this store in particular.

But Aliexpress is essentially China's answer to eBay.

Quite safe given seller does not get paid (i.e. payment is withheld) until the buyer confirms that they have received the goods.

Would also be interested if they actually made puddle lights that are available in the Golfs.

Handy when reversing, to see the kerb at night.

The door warning lights or puddle lights as you refer to them also fit the Tiguan according to his advert. I have just sent the seller a question regarding this item and others if they come with installation instructions notably the wiring. How many footwell lights are there in the Tiguan? The advert shows 4 but when I had a look I could see only 2 under the dash Is there 2 more in the rear under the front seats?

No ... the puddle lights that I'm referring to are underneath the side mirrors (in a Golf).

    Like these: http://www.rdash.com.tw/en/product_d...ber=LE5605274W

Yep, I have only changed the 2 in the front footwell.
But who knows about the rear? Maybe there are 2 holes somewhere as remnants to the cost cutting.

Have looked and taken the door warnings off before. Very easy and simple!
Ours are just reflectors and definitely an empty void behind them.

So not sure where you could wire these to or draw current from.

Was not aware of that feature on the Golf, thanks for that. I will report back once I hear from Mr Xiu. Maybe this weekend I will remove one of the door panels and have a look at the wiring for vacant slots in the plug connections. The amount of wire in the picture in the advert for the 4 lights infers they must connect up somewhere within the door. The big question is,has the factory loom got the wiring from the door to the main distributor fuse box under the dash?

One thing to be aware of when dealing with parts made for Chinese Tiguans is that this is the only market in the world that has a LWB Tig. They have stretched the rear doors by 20-30cm so you need to keep this in mind for any trims/mouldings/fittings. It's possible that they've added some lights for the rear passengers in the Chinese LWB version too as rear seats/legroom seems to be a big selling feature in this market.

On the Tiguan there are no spare slots on the door controllers to allow activation of these puddle light unfortunatey, unless you are extremely lucky. Pin 10 is supposed to be what you need according to a guide on my-gti.com. A guy did this on the mytiguan forum but he bought all new controllers and also new mirrors, and other things to get both the puddle lights and "entry lights" under the mirrors to work.

I bought the R Dash lights above but haven't fitted them yet. Again, someone has retrofitted these but cutting out a slot in the mirror base and glued them in but he used a relay system to power them triggered by the interior light. I plan to simply use the interior light feed to power mine if it works, and also feed that to the door puddle lights.

Thanks for that naresh I eventually got a response from Mr Xu, he initially asked what car it was for so I told him and his 2 worded response to my question do the parts come with wiring instructions and his response was "can use" which I assume is no but it will fit in a Tiguan. Do you know where the door controllers are located? I noted their existence when I did an autoscan using the VCDS software last week. I am wondering if I will now, like the footwell lights have to activate them via VCDS assuming I am lucky enough to connect them up to pin no 10

Hi mate I very much doubt you have the right controllers. However, if you want to check then they are located inside the door behind the the cards.

I also believe that it's the very same door controllers that prevent our side mirrors from automatically dipping on reverse.

Again, VW either couldn't be bothered or didn't consider it important and could save a few bucks on the Tig.

Have to live with these cost cutting decisions ... but still no flappy paddle steering wheel offered (even as a user pay option) is just fcuking ridiculous.
