2011 132 TSI Tiguan not starting

    Hi,

My Tiguan doesn't start and wondering if anyone has had the same issue?

Key Fob can barely unlock car (Tried Spare Key also) after a few presses it unlocks.

When Starting the car, the headlights are dim and only lasts about half a second.
Lights on dash also just flash for half a second.

No response and car doesn't crank.

Checked Battery colour meter thingy and it is green.

    Wondering what it may be?
    Thanks

+1 on the battery very common in a car 5-6 years old.

Thanks all, I will try replacing the battery today and see if this fixes it.
I forgot to mention that I had replaced the battery 2 years ago but everything so far seems to be battery related as the unlocking of doors and lights are very weak. Thanks

Or at least check that nothing has been left on by accident and drained the battery.

Thanks, I just replaced the battery now the unlock and locking of the doors is ok however when I get into the car the instrument cluster display flickers and when I turn the ignition on it turns off. engine doesn't crank.
Wondering if there is anything else I can check?

    Thanks

If you can get a scan of your car. I'd be checking fuses and if there's any electrical/wiring faults.

There was an issue/recall on the fuse holder in the engine bay next to the battery as it would get hot and melt. Check that this hasn't happened: Faulty Fuse Holder causes Multiple Electrical Fault Messages

Thanks Tigger, just had roadside assistance visit. New battery was 10Volts so they jump started and it started. Ran the car for half an hour and then tried to start again. Same issue.
Is the new battery the issue?

What was the charging voltage when running ? The alternator may be dead, or as stated the wiring can melt, this would prevent the alternator current making its way back to the battery.
Roadside assist should have been able to troubleshoot this for you.

Well if you are able to jump start the car it means that the car is OK and looks like the problem is either with the battery or charging system.
