    Hi Mate,

The RNS 510 can be fitted to Polo 12 no problems no hitches in one hour and this includes the coding. The Parametta guys are only installers, not the sellers. Shoot us an email from the website and say you are from the forum and will include shipping for free if you can send us some photos back with the unit fitted.

Feel free to ask or ring me with any questions

I can certainly help out sending photos with the unit fitted if it works with all the systems in the car, including all screens where the unit works with bluetooth, MDI, MFD (if possible) and steering wheel buttons. If all that works, I'd even send you a video (there are a lot of doubters about the RNS-510 working with the MFD because apparently non-GTI Polos are not fitted with the same grade of MFD - I don't know how true this is - there are a lot of mixed reports).

The other issue being - GTIs with the GPS fitted tend to have the sharkfin GPS & Radio antenna fitted to the roof... I will still need an antenna fitted somewhere won't I?

Let me know what else I might need, I get this feeling I need to find out what the radio code is from my dealer? or will that come with the VW Manual for my Polo when I get it?

You might as well be a guinea pig on this one mate, We have sold a few units for Polo users outside of the forum and have only had good reports but some people dont realise it can work with MFD to certain extent.
Your car has the antenna fitted already and the shark fin aerial fitted to new VW is: bluetooth, GPS and Webasto (we have those in stock) and not radio antennas. The GPS antenna works well if placed next to your A-Pillar in between dash and windscreen. After a while you wont notice it.

RADIO CODE comes on VW SECURITY CARD as the radios are not stolen as some Chinese gear dealers suggest here. You will receive RADIO CODE on the purchase of the units as per photos on our website and here. All radios come with original foil on the screen and with the invoice. We buy them in bulk direct from factory hence the price is good.

Let me know if any help is needed mate as I am here to help!

I had a look through the Polo brochure and I can confirm that the 77TSI Comfortline Polo does not have an actual MFD, so it probably doesn't tell me much other than how many miles I've done, the time and how much fuel I've got. Bit of a bummer. But I have been messaging with another 77TSI Comfortline Polo owner saying he has a RNS510 unit, and it works like a charm, but he also confirms that there is technically no MFD on any non-GTI Polo.

I have seen some people on this forum posting that they have installed the GPS antenna IN the A-Pillar, they were even nice enough to put up a guide along with pictures: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post831118 and http://www.vwnav.com.au/POLO_GPS_ANTENNA_INSTALL.pdf - this might be a helpful resource to you guys just in case people might be worried that the antenna sticks out too much looking like a sore thumb (like me ).

At the end of the day, I am hoping the RNS510 unit will work with the standard bluetooth module, the MDI interface, steering wheel buttons, the midline MFD - and whatever else the RNS510 is supposed to be hooked up to (Audio and other standard functions being a no-brainer).

Thanks a lot so far for your replies though, I'm collecting my car at the end of the week - so your installers down in Parramatta should be seeing me soon (within this month at the very least).

How is the delivery going to work? is the RNS510 unit going to be delivered to me first? or will the installer have units ready to go? That and what method of payment do you go by?

Hi mate, at a later stage, we are able to supply the MFD GTI odometer for you at a cost of approximately 750 delivered. MFD in practice is helpful but not necessary to take full advantage of the sat nav itself.

With regards to GPS antenna inside the A-Pillar - we are not in favour of this as your recption will be decreased to 40-50% which is a border line for the sat nab to be working correctly. On his photos he is showing 5 sats and this is not enough for the unit to work accurately. Its like with a TV antenna, if you hide it in your home , its never going to work properly. 90-100 on the roof, 70-80 between the dash and winscreen. The North Parametta guys sell my 510s as well but at a slightly higher price (around 2k with fittting) as they are a big company in that neck of the woods. If you want to save a couple $$$ you can get it couriered from us with AAE overnight when you ready and arrange fitting with Nosh once you have it. He charges 150 for radio installs. We do EFT, Paypal 2.5% and Debit Credit Cards at 1.5%. Its up to you if you want me to deliver the unit to you or the installers - whichever suits best - preferably - yourself I suppose so you can enjoy the rush before fitting it
