I also went for the aftermarket Dynaudio 242GT to the fronts with baffles and focal sound deadening all put in by Marty at FHRX in Sydney. The system sounds great - a terrific improvement on the oem - and you cannot tell from looking at the car that its not original which is exactly what I was after.
Your pic link doesn't work. The Dynaudio splits are just so good, they make the stock ones sound lame. Depends on what you want I guess.

Did you put the amps under the pass seat?

Sorry, I haven't yet learned how to attach pics. Yep I was originally after some different speakers recommended by another installer but after speaking to Marty was told that they were too deep and that they actually wouldn't fit without body work. I have a 2011 118TSI so unless an amp was included as original equipment, then I actually dont have an amp installed. I asked at the time but I was told that these speakers are efficient enough that they dont actually need one. I was a bit doubtful but I've had the system up to about 15 on the mfd which I guess must be half way but it was plenty loud enough for me playing led zep or ac/dc. The sound was great. I've now rediscovered cds and also reloaded my ipod using the apple loss less process to increase sound quality.

^^ you sure you don't have an Amp? If you don't I wouldn't be driving them hard! Dynaudio are inefficient and need heaps of power to run without damaging them.

Thanks Brendan however the installer said they were OK without adding an amp - especially as I was only having the fronts done. I dont need to listen to it more than halfway which is still very loud and so far the Dynaudio tweeters and mids sound superb.

Mate, just wondering how your finding this set up now you've been running it for a month or so.

Anything now you think you would have done differently, diff speakers, sub etc ?.

What kind of music are you listening to ?. Do you find it lacking in any areas ?.

Sorry for the questions, I was in Northfield the other day asking questions about an upgrade for my car and remembered you'd posted up you'd had a install done. So thought I'd ask and get some feedback. Hope you don't mind.

    Cheers mate, Matt.

Hey Matt, I'm happy to answer your questions because I am very happy with the components I bought, the quality of the fittment and the service Northfield provided. I did my homework and as you can see from my location, I travelled more than 50ks to Northfield Moorooka.

I listen to everything from LFMAO to Skitz to old school. I can't really pinpoint any shortcoming with what I bought, although I have always been accustomed to having f&r speakers and now I have the good front splits and the stock rears. But I appreciate it more now.

I have since returned to Northfield to buy splits for my son's birthday, and they looked after me on price being a repeat customer. I'd be happy for you to sample mine before you jump, just let me know.

    cheers
    Brian

The pics on Northfield's website is actually a MK IV

    Hi Brian.

Had a look at your install looks great mate. See your using dynaudio speakers and a arc sub. Arc amps too ?. What size is your Sub ?.

Good to hear you got it right first time around. Thats what I'm after. Don't want to do it all twice, hence my info gathering exercise.
The guys at Northfield seem to know thier stuff and are happy to chat about all and any questions.

I don't mind travelling for knolwedge and expertise, I'm just by Northlakes so like you a trip to the other side of town is required. But thats cool.

I had an idea of what I was after when I walked in, they gave me some advice and a few pointers and showed me what they would use. So now I think I'm almost sorted in my head atleast as to what I'm going to go for.

I'd love to have a listen and checking yours out before I go spending cashola.

    Matt.

To my surprise, the 8" sub sounds better than I remember a 12" I used to have. I went for Arc Audio sub and amps and the amps are a perfect fit under the pass seat. Although, I think setup is different for a MK IV.

I just love quality sound with a bit of volume. PM sent

Which Arc audio amps are you using?
I like the fact that you managed to fit both under one seat.

Are you still using OEM headunit? If so, have they connected a switched power? or did they use the Auto sense function on these amps?
