Yes you can upgrade to 4020 for older units. This will not cause battery drain.

Then after you have upgraded your gateway you can upgrade to 5238.
You can download it from here http://rnsfirmware.com/downloads/RNS...38_60_35_5.iso

There are only minor differences but it is the most stable and up to date firmware available.

Be aware of course that you will need to reload your maps and any music stored on the hard drive...

Yes, im aware of that! Thanks!

One last thing, you said that 4020 was cool with my gateway and unit. And what about 4120 that you also have available? Will it work like the 4020, without battery drain? Thanks!

No that one hasn't been modified for older units so will cause problems with not powering down properly.

    Hi guys.

    Just an update:

Tried to install the 4020 version ( RNS Firmware » Firmware 4020 for older European RNS510 units ) but it gives me the 010306 error (even before the installation starts, its when he loads. Appears with the Seat symbol on the top left corner).

From what i searched, it's because my RNS is a 5P0 035 680 A, that means its a SEAT unit, and, beign a SEAT unit, it only allows to update until 1026. Too bad..

Is there any way to "convert" my SEAT unit to a VW unit, so it can accept this 4020 FW? I was looking for josi's from vwnavi contact but i can't seem to find.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

I have a 2010 Phaeton with RNS810 and Dynaudio. Today when I started the car it went into a boot loop and nothing I tried on the spot worked. Don't have a VCDS to check the HW or SW model. I found this thread and was wondering, is EU_FW_5238_60_35_5 compatible with the 810 model? Can I try it without risking anything more major? Should I go for a newer/older version?

My only concern is that on Phaetons there are ride settings on headunit and I am in doubt about using a non specific model sw version.

LE: I tried it but I'm getting "Software loading error (010306)". Any ideas?

    Thank you,
    Bogdan.

    Update:
I got a VAG Com and did a full scan of the car and multiple errors were found regarding infotainment. Did a DTC clear and errors were successfully removed. When I removed the OBD plug the music started to play.
Looks like it was as simple as that. Don't know the root cause but I am willing to try and found out. I took it as a coincidence but it started the boot loop problem when I took it from the car wash.

    Update again:
The cause for infotainment going haywire was found and was caused by washing the car. Seems some water got to the radio antenna on top of the car causing an open circuit. Persisting error when running diagnosis:
