B7 Passat nav spoken instructions

This has been annoying me for a while, so I thought I would ask if anyone else has this experience, or even knows what I am on about! I have a 2015 Passat B7 Highline with I believe the RNS510 system. When using the nav guidance, the spoken instructions will say "turn left and continue to dahmik" or something along those lines, instead of the actual name of the location I am heading. I have tried changing between male and female voices, but has not changed. What the hell is dahmik!

There has been much craning of necks and scratching of heads on this one...my take is it is 'dummy' but who really knows...
It seems to insert that when it doesn't know how to pronounce a town.
It has been found that later firmware and maps seems to produce this unfortunate situation less frequently. However there is no complete fix other than upgrading to a Discover Media unit or aftermarket solution.

Well that is annoying! Ah well, maybe it is enough of an excuse to trade in for a new Golf Alltrack!

Thanks, but going by your retro fit thread, I'd rather just put up with it until I trade up for a new car! That looks like way too much effort for me! Although, you mentioned firmware and map updates help somewhat, how can I complete this? Only via my dealer?

You'll likely have the latest firmware already, but to be sure hold down setup until you get a version information option.
