    Red face High Oil Consumption

My Skoda 2L TSI engine has always had high oil consumption, over 1L per ~1,500km
Between oil changes I would typically use an entire 5L oil pack at a cost of ~$70
I have tried using 0W40 oil but it made no difference

I put the car into European Autotech in Mona Vale for a walnut blast of the inlet to clean the carbon out

When I picked the car up I discussed my engine oil consumption with the guys
    They recommended I try the Liqui-Moly Visco-Sabil Vicso-Plus product (~$40 for 1L)
I did an oil change and added 250ml of this product ($10)

I did 5,500km before the low oil light turned on - huge improvement
I'm not using the car much at present so that covered 6 months - time for another oil change
So now I'm blowing a lot less oil out through the turbo (which is not good) and I've saved $60

    Happy

Try LM Toptec 4100 5W40 at the next service.

It's 502/505-spec, and ok for the petrol engines.

Ive heard a few good reports from people using that LM visco stabil product - and i was thinking of trying it. Luckily my Mk6 GTI uses very little oil (maybe 500ml every 4,000km) so its not a huge issue...more annoying than anything.

Just a question to the learned....

I am assuming that Visco-Stabil does it magic by increasing oil viscosity and thereby reducing ring blowby. What is this increased viscosity doing to flow and lubrication in the finer channels??

    Thanks.
