Got into a bracket for the gear box mount, im half way their and hopeing the stainless doesnt work harden and crack. Although i have seen stainless doing harder jobs than holding a gearbox in place.

Got the engine in place with drivers side mount attached and lined it up square with the line i set up across the engine bay.
I think i got the angle of the drivers side mount wrong. the engine could tilt a few more degrees back towards the fire wall so that the bracket on the gearbox lines up at right angles to the line of the chasis mount. It would be good if their was an accurate angle given for that bracket but i couldnt find it on any forums. I just guestimated it from old mates pictures on his rocco 20vt conversion (vwVortex i think) nice project that one

oh well off to put in the gear box bracket today

Bracket in of course their will be some tubing between the two plates to stop bending for when the bolts are done up.

this is someone's effort at changing it to RH drive. they kinda bashed the firewall in to get a bit of an angle happening,

ok so finally got into the steering conversion that was previously done. I found that my suspicions were correct...
Steering column out 35mm to far to the right. although some might think thats not as bad as it sounds but consider the fact that
moving the whole column to the left to far has also move the rod connecting into the joint on the steering rack.
it was comfortably left with only 5mm of the steering rod clamped into the joint as opposed to the designed 20-25mm! eeeeekk! thats like riding a wild pony without a saddle and faceing backwards at that...only cowboys do it

Pretty happy about doing a brake booster conversion thanks to some parts from Loon, He also has a really nice new workshop...moving up in the worldwith the booster comes the brackets ect for pedal conversion and hydrolic clutch.

The fire wall is in Awesome shape except for a few places where it has been hacked into.
the area for clutch cable and accelerator cable was one of them so i had no worries about putting in the metal plate to suit the booster.
most things are just tacked in for now. When everything is without a doubt definite the plan is to go over it with the tig and get into some Engine Bay Smoothing.

Steering column on the way to being Secure and pedals currently set at the right height for a Midget
