If their dry sump fits on a 1.2 TFSI would be handy to know

They need to check is the short answer. It'll fit on the 1600 ok.

Best you shoot them an email with the block type information.

Once they know which block you've got they can pull one down off the shelf and take a look.

Steve says he sold a lot of those 1.2's back into Germany and that he's probably still got one or two laying about that he can check dimensions on.

He did also ask if your motor had the cast cylinder liners as this would be the best option for high performance.

Ohh missed this. No idea if it is a lined one (gulp) being the older 1.2 I would guess so, but... The new ones have the exhaust manifold cast into the head, which wasn't suitable for performance

It is a CBZ, will give them a yell

Went out to Sandown today for round 3 of the Vic Super Sprint Championships.

I've just had the head off for reconditioning and only just got it back on in time for today.

Compression was down on no3 a bit, this turned out to be damage to the sealing face of the valves.

In all 5 exhaust and 2 inlet valves had to be changed. Most likely cause is foreign body ingestion.

Either track debris on the one occasion when I ran without an air cleaner, or the multiple spark plug electrodes I've burnt off.

Car is fast again now. Conditions weren't the greatest today, best I managed was 1:31

    Pit crew at the ready

    Scrutineering queue

    Scrutineering

Warming up in the morning sun

    The sun didn't last long

V8 Supercar chasing and not appearing able to pass.
(I don't think he was trying very hard.)

By 3:30 the day had gotten pretty dark and the track cooled rapidly. Combined with fierce winds I really couldn't push like I had earlier. The car was really unsettled into the high speed braking areas.

All in all a good day. The 15 minute sessions were pretty grueling though - 10 laps in and you wish they'd just wave the flag. Don't know how people race for hours at a time.

    Thanks for sharing Peter!
Shame about the wind, looks like it was affecting a few cars.

Round 4 of the Vic Super Sprints tomorrow.

Going to be freezing out on the Island.

In other news I'm converting the car to run on e85.

I'm currently accumulating all the fuel system bits I need to make the conversion.

    Lots of work to do.

Survival was the name of the game today.

I gave up after 3 rounds and packed up.

I couldn't get any power down without spinning the wheels.

I had lateral and braking grip but I just couldn't accelerate the car.

Proper wets would have worked much better than the semis I was running.

Spun out 3 times, locked up and slid down the turn 4 exit lane.

After seeing the above incident and a few others I decided to call it quits for the day.

I suppose I did get the change to bed in a new set of brake pads and square off my semis which were pretty lumpy after Sandown.

    Heated windscreen worked a treat.
