    MK2 ABF CONVERSION... help?!

hey all! i'm getting serious about converting my 91 8v to a 96 ABF.

i've been seeing so many different answers on what i need for the swap and i'm super confused. especially regarding the wiring.

Donor is an imported mk3 96 16v GTI. Going into my Aus delivered 8v.

    i've heard:
    - to not touch any wiring in the 8v and just swap the engine- the 8v ecu and fuel pumps can handle it
    - go balls to the wall with the full engine bay/ dash loom conversion
    - to modify the engine loom from the abf and it'll work?

i know all of these can work but i'm struggling to settle on the most solid method

    Cheers

Never have 16v. But search vw_pilot on ebay. I think he can chip the 8v ecu to work for a 16v.

I think the 8v and 16v will have a lot of the same sensors and such, so wiring should be really easy. You should be able to use most of your original wiring and only add on what you need for the 16v.

I'd get the motor in first then worry about wiring!

Go to the English ClubGTI forum and look up Rubjohnny. He's the expert on 16v transplants.

Also recommend giving Matt at Camden GTI a call. He's done a few conversions.
