Thread: Manual conversion

  1. Manual conversion

Gday.... Recently purchased a mint 91 GTI and I'm extremely happy with it other than the automatic transmission. So today I pulled the trigger on a conversion kit from Camden GTI.... probably bit more than I wanted to spend but saves me alot of BS hopefully. No doubt I will be posting and searching the forum for help. Would greatly appreciate tips and advice from ppl in the know. Cheers

    Clutch cable - check.
    Speedo cable - check.
    What's the 3rd cable for?

Not needed on a manual gearbox. The picture of all the parts you have shows lots of MK3 bits.

I'll be doing the same conversion on the red MK2 auto I'm getting next month but I've got 2 damaged MK2's for parts. Both are 5 speed manuals so I've got no problem getting parts.

Have a look at the MK2 link in my signature for some tips on converting a MK2 into something that's really fun to drive.

    Cheers

    Paul

  10. If you take note on the picture I have posted above it shows the cable going to the automatic gearbox in someway then to the carburettor or throttle body....so correct me if I'm wrong but the cable supplied by Camden GTI will go directly to the throttle body area. Are the mk3 bits the pedal box and Manuel shift mechanism???
