hey guys I really like the looks of vr6's when they got plenty of poke with deep dish wheels but i heard it's illegal for the wheels to pass the mudguard in QLD. so i was just wondering... is it possible to get wide wheels with decent dish that looks good whilst staying legal in QLD? if so, some pictures of this would be great to show me

Pretty sure it's illegal all over the country.
Just get some good dish and the right offset to have them sit flush if you are worried.
Or be baller and do it anyway...

I believe the rule in NSW is that no part of the wheel may protrude wider than the wheel arch, and I'd hazard a guess that other states are the same.

yea, poke will be illegal pretty much in all states. but if it's not too much, and you've got some stretch (as well as having a generally ligit car, and not driving like knob, or mean a knob to the rozzers) you should be ok to run a bit of poke. but yes, it's technically illegal and you could get defected for it.

you can still get a fair bit of dish without poking, just depends on wheels style. borbet A"s spring to mind. you could also get some arch work done too if you're really game.

or make the guards wider!!!!

if its flush you can still get done for wheel clearance to the guards in QLD...

i have been done with this twice on different cars... make no sense when you can by a VT and have like 2 inch of the rims under the guards and not get done..

you tell me which is safer when they run a cut spring and standard hacked shock (or blown out standard shock) or a wheel sitting flush with the outside of the guard...

The only situation I can think of where poke is unsafe is for your wallet to get everything just "right".

Was actually going to say, if you have it flat pegged round a bend, smash the guard into the lip of the rim and it bucks you off line into a tree then yeah, it's unsafe. But at that speed it's prob not the safest anyway!

saw an s13 today with heaps of dish and poke, made my day

sorry if ive got the concept wrong but for a vr6, what would be the widest possible rim when it is "sitting flush."

Depends on the offset of the wheel, but a low offset 8" wheel could sit nicely flush if the offset if right. You could get a 7" wheel sitting flush with spacers but wouldnt get any/much stretch
