I wasn't comparing the Street Lines to KW V1s - I was just putting your comment about the budget (HotTuning, FK AK/Street Line) in perspective. The OP is talking about Silver Lines which are comparable to the KW V1s in price and quality AND have adjustment.

And in the other thread on this (in the Polo forum) I made the same point as you about servicing KW dampers.

I am going to say that I love my FK AK coilovers. Got them landed from the UK in 5 days, have had them on the car for 10,000km, and they are great!!

I looked at a number of sets of coilovers, including KW V1's, and couldn't justify forking out a left nut for what they were asking, especially when I'm not going to track the car.

I'm extremely happy with my choice, and totally recommend them.

unless you ACTUALLY have any written evidence that FK's are of a lower overall quality, to the point of failing prematurely just because they cost less, your opinions are invalid. You also surmise that FK's are NOT a reputable brand?

Its like saying, don't buy a Skoda, they cost less, you get what you pay for, therefore they are a terrible quality car. You can't really say Skoda has had a reputable brand in the past can you now? So therefore is a VW with the same running gear far superior just because you paid more for it? Silly way of thinking really isnt it?

I rocked around on hot tunings which are THE budget coilover for over 40,000km's (wound all the way down) and they were fine when I took them out, I dont see why or how FK's would or could be any worse quality. Their manufacturing looked bang on to me with all the ones I've installed and I havent had a complaint yet about their quality. You make it sound like FK's will explode the moment you lower the car back on the ground. Again the 5 sets I've installed all looked the goods in terms of manufacturing.

Why not buy the Konigsports, they have Koni inserts, and Koni's are rebuild able in Australia. The KW V3's have to be sent back to Germany to get rebuilt. I know which one I'd rather. Why fork out a few hundred extra for KW's when FK does the same job with very similar quality at a better price. Just sayin'

plus FK's come with warranty just like KW do. So where's the problem?

Mate I'm not trying to get into a arguement with ya. I guess I've hit a nerve on you since you own FK's and probably have a mate selling them or you may have some financial interest in them? You're making it sound like as though your putting words in my mouth by saying "you make it sound like they'll explode..." I never said that nor did I imply that they're so ****e that it'll do that. All I said was after asking for advice from retailers and workshops/ they've redirected me to another brand because they themselves haven't hard particularly positive experiences with the brand. Never did I personally say FK's are poo poo did I? Plus it would be bad form of me to since I've never owned a set. You keep asking for written evidence? Likewise with any brand, there will never be any actual written 'evidence' from any reputable source apart from customer feedback and retailer/workshop experiences which is what I've been referring to all along!!!!! If you want written evidence and if you're so strung up on the Fk brand then why don't you ask them to complete a controlled comparison study between FK and other brands? If I'm the type who doesn't "choose my word carefully", then I'll probably be in fights with everyone so like kaanage said "settle down"...please. See how I'm omitting the "FFS" bit? I'm sure everyone one of us have opinions and we're all entitled to it. I don't see why you're getting so strung up on it. Was only giving my 2 cents. The whole point of the thread and any thread I'm sure is to get opinions and experiences from forum members without any biase. Hence was only contributing to the thread so shoot me if I'm only passing on what I've heard or read. If I'm liable to be shot just because of that then that negates the need for anyone to go on forums asking for advice or experiences now doesn't it? In a nutshell, forums are here for enthusiasts and newbies to post questions and experiences and opinions whether positive or negative. That's the whole point.

Im not getting worked up, I just dislike mis-information.

I mearly recommend FK's because they are a quality coilover at a great price. That's all.

i bought fk highsports for my mk4 last year off lorenz as he suggested for good quality for price range and i think they are great, i couldn't be happier with them they are comfy but not too soft. a mate guided me through putting them in which went smoothly and i never hear any noises from them i shouldnt besides swaybar on driveshaft from lowering the car
