    2011 Polo Hatch. 1.6 TDI 5 speed.

Have just purchased the car and have been told that the Timing Belt is changed every 60,000km. Does this sound right? We also have a 2007 Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI and the interval is 180,000. Any comments appreciated.

It is 210,000km for timing belt and the tensioner on CR diesels in Jetta and Golf6, so it seems very unlikely that it is every 60,000km in Polo.

It should be like every Australian spec VW changed at the 4th year service interval or 105K whichver comes first.

The Service Record says 210k for the cam shaft belt on the 1.6TDI; so I am guessing we all have a while to go.

Yes but that is European specifications VW Australia have different regime.

For example if they say replace it at 4 year service and you choose not to and it goes a year later, they can/could claim it as wear and tear of the tensioner.
