130 TDI Soot on rear bumper?

I washed my 50,000km Passat 130 TDI today. The lower half of the rear bumper appeared to have a fine layer of soot on it. I've not noticed this before.

The car is silver and the soot (if that's what it was) is only really noticeable when viewed next to a freshly cleaned piece of the bumper.

Is this common for a diesel with this many kms?

    Cheers

its not likely to actually be soot, since hte DPF should remove 99.9% of the particualte matter.

    Might be something else though.

Wasn't the 130 TDI an MY13 upgrade and so a B7 model? Or am I so wrong and been posting in the wrong forum all this time?

Maybe it has an oil leak?
