i may be interested tim why do you want to sell it
were u going to use it on your vr?
does this affect every gear or just 5th?
I have a 3.94 ring and pinion that i dont think im going to use. Normally these sell for around $350US + shipping so id consider offers around the $450AUD mark shipped anywhere in Australia.
Its brand new and never been used and is a great way to overcome the stock tall gearing in mk3 vr6 golfs. Good upgrade if youre planning on going the NA tuning route.
From memory i think the standard final drive in a mk3 vr6 is 3.38:1

Ring and pinion affects the final drive, so all gears are affected. The ratio between them remains the same.
In this case, "shortened". So the maximum speed in every gear is reduced, but acceleration is improved by the increased ratio. Think of it as using a lower gear on the crank (front sprocket) of your pushbike..
I've added this for information value if people don't know, don't take it as me treating you in particular like an idiot..

ok no worries in that case fuel consumption would be higher
what concerns me the most is long trips cruising in fifth
is it possible to change fifth gear to counter act the ring and pinion?
reason im asking all of this is because later down the track i need to replace second gear synchrow and i may as well get the work done all at once
most people that do the 3.94 also put in a 5th gear from a TDI. Gives you best of both worlds.
Does that actually work nicely Tim? If one were to put the 3.94 kit in and put the TDI 5th, would it give you a 5th gear like the stock VR6 currently has?

I think normally people put in either the 0.72 or the 0.756 as a 5th gear.
the 0.72 brings your RPM back close to stock.
Standard 5th gear in a mk3 vr6 is 0.838.
this spreadsheet shows u the stock vr6 ratios. Its the one highlighted in red if u scroll down.
http://vr6.com.au/images/trannyratios.xls
You can edit the ratios in it and it will calculate the speeds at 3000RPM for you
pm sent.......
