RE: Passat B8 Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter

    Hi All,

Had the 12mth / 15,000km service completed today.
Generally the Cabin Filter gets changed every 2yrs, however I like doing it myself every 12mths.

I purchased an Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter from VW Parts; Part No. 5Q0819653
It is made by Valeo and is made in France.

What came out was the original filter and it is obviously a VW Part No. 5Q0819653, however it is stamped Denso (Denso make the fan blower unit that it sits in) and is made by MANN-FILTER (their part no. CUK26009) and is made in Germany (all this info was stamped on the side of the filter).
The original filter actually feels better quality than the VW replacement I purchased today. The original filter appears to have a more solid 4 sided frame with foam / cushioned ends, unlike the VW replacement that I purchased today.

I did the install myself by following the Mounting Instructions on the MANN-FILTER site; https://catalog.mann-filter.com/AU/e...FCA%20(T247754)

    MANN-FILTER Part Numbers:
    CU26009 - Cabin Filter
CUK26009 - Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter
FP26009 - Biofunctional Cabin Filter (more than double the price)!!!

I hope this helps someone to give it a go too!!!

Bit of a thread revive since I just recently changed my cabin filter.

I found Amazon Australia to be a great source for Mahle filters if you're a prime member as Amazon AU will ship the items for free from the US if you spend over $50.

Mahle offer three types of cabin filters for our cars.

    Mahle LA888 - Standard Filter

Mahle LAK888 - Activated carbon filter

    Mahle LAO888 - CareMetix filter

Amazon AU also lists Mahle air and oil filters to suit the 206TSI.

Mahle LX 3502 - Air filter

Mahle OX 835D - Oil Filter
