You sure it's from South Africa? They only made 4 door models.

Can you post a working link, Lucky13? Cant see it

And South Africa did make 2 doors although never in a GTI.

    1979-1981 there was a 2 door L (1100) Fairly common and I stripped and built 1 into a 1800 16V turbo ..... see my link for photos
1982-1984 there was a 2 door GT (1600 carby) that looked like a UK GTI in all other aspects. Rare as hens teeth.

Thanks for the update. I wonder how hard it would be to find 2 door parts in SA?

Hope you don't mind me adding these, here's some of the pictures from Facebook

That's an early L model. Same colour as what mine was originally too

Although it has been "updated" since new ..... 1982-on dash and bumpers has been added.

Parts for the 2 doors that are specific to the 2 doors is as hard to find in South Africa than it is here

4 door parts, given they were built till fairly recently is plentiful ....

This is what it could look like ......

As I'm sure you know, for parts, provide the shell is not too rusted, front panels are interchangeable with 4 doors. Side windows can be replaced by clear Perspex (cut to size and saves weight) and side trim can be removed and the holes filled in for a cleaner look.

    Thanks for adding the pics.
Well thats right, the body is bugged. I'm parting it out today.
I haven't considered 1.1l engine, actually forgot that they fitted it in a Golf, and it looks like the 1.3l.
I'm scrapping the running gear too, dont think anyone wants such a little engine. Its a shame, because it turns over with the first turn.
