VW Passat V6 FSI costs of running

Hi guys, my name is Bill, I live in sunny Brisbane.

I've joined this forum because I am on the lookout for a new (or good secondhand) car and a passat CC V6 FSI is on my list. I am an unabashed alfa fanatic - I own 2, a 147 GTA and a 3.2V6 GT - I understand that owning high spec euro beasts can be an expensive business so I'm really looking for info and advice on running costs and what to look out for before I dive in. I understand that VW has a good reputation for build quality and reliability but I also understand that things can get quite expensive when they go wrong.

Can anybody give me a heads up on the servicing costs and intervals? One passat I'm looking at has 59000km on it and am I right it would be due for a major service at 60? Also, are there any questions I should be asking and what should I watch out for on a test drive?

The wife thinks we should just buy a Kia Cerato, I need some good info to make a case

Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated!

    Bill

Hi Mate . I am in Melbourne and I drive a V6 Passat cc. Servicing costs depends where you get it serviced from . dealership is always rip off . I get mine serviced at Volkpower which is a VW specialist service center . major service I paid 500 what had the DSG transmission oil changed . all fluids . all filters . the Same service the dealer quoted my 1200 for. Minor services are normally under 200....
CC is a great car plenty of power . not the best feul consumption on the factory tune and very smooth and quiet ride .

Decent servicing costs if u avoid the dealers. It's a bit beyond a lot of mechanics though - they need to have some German car experience. We average 10.5L / 100km with both peak hour & aggressive driving in the 3.6L 4Motion with a car load.

Damn, I saw your comment so gave Volkspower a call as i'm needing a major done on my V6 FSI Highline, was hoping for the same $500 you say you paid but expecting a little more as its about a year and a half since your comment.

The guy quoted me $1200, only $100 less than the dealer quoted! Forget them, Volkscare quoted $6-700 a couple of months ago, going to call him now to see if that's still accurate.
