If it does end up being the mechatronic, don't immediately consent to paying for a full replacement. Second-hand refurbished units can be obtained that are much cheaper than new at dealer prices. But more significantly - if you mentioned the issue to your dealer whilst the car was still under warranty, then they should have made a note of it, and it could be argued that the gearbox fault is a pre-existing condition that first occurred whilst the car was under warranty. If that's accepted, any repairs should be covered under warranty.
    Thanks Adam...
I remember clearly reporting this problem to them, and I remember the exact answer from the guy at the reception: "There is nothing wrong with the ****", that's when I decided to service my car with an independent specialist.
I believe I should have it documented on the receipt as well...

Thanks mate, will see how it goes... I hope I wont get a $5,000 quote to fix it... I have been holding off selling this car until the MY17 CC is out... now I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it for that long...

See how you go with the software update that was suggested earlier.

From experience with these sorts of things, it'll basically be a recalibration of the parameters to account for a greater degree of wear before faulting.

Before the conspiracy theorists chime in, failure rate of these boxes at the distance it's travelled is quite low.

Will do... I will send an update of the assessment results on Monday.

    Many thanks.

I got the diagnosis yesterday... The clutches are worn out and they need to be replaced.
I was quoted $2100 for the job, but the dealer has applied for a goodwill repair, will know the outcome in a couple of days.
I hope VWA will be kind enough to approve it since it is a pre-existing fault that should have been covered under warranty...
I asked if they are sure it is not the mechatronics unit misbehaving, I was told the unit is issuing the commands but the clutches are not responding... they also confirmed the results with Germany...

Ok it's not just me then ;)

Mine's been doing this ever since I bought it at 70K now at 79K and hasn't gotten any worse.
It's strange though as it doesn't happen at all times, only seems to do it in certain carparks.

So while parking, I put it in reverse and it free-revs when I press the accelerator, and you can hear a clunking noise 5-6 times coming from the DSG, like it's trying to find the gear. If I catch it before it's finished and put it in drive again and then reverse again, it's ok. If I leave it and it finishes clunking, I get an "ACC error" on the dash and I have to turn off the ignition and then turn it back on again to work properly. Do you get the ACC error? I don't have the VCDS to compare errors.

I always thought it had something to do with my 20" rims and the TPMS no longer available.
I did see a while ago, that someone reported similar issues with a Tiguan, and it turned out to be the ACC Radar sensor, I'll see if I can find that thread.

    Mine's a 2009 CC.
Keen to see your outcome on this.

    Hi mate,

I don't get any errors or warning lights, only VCDS errors.
The dealership has been driving me crazy, according to them, they have submitted the goodwill repair request 3 times, but it keeps getting cancelled because VWA has changed something in the process.
I'm going to go there again on Friday and hopefully I will get the outcome... Phone calls are useless...

    Thanks mate,

I have sent the car to a dealership north of the bridge they are alright, but the guy that was handling the application went on leave and no one else wanted to help... No one returns phone calls and you can't get anything done over the phone anyway... I understand they are getting hammered with dieselgate now, but this has been going for more than 5 weeks, when they told me it should take a couple of days... We'll see how it goes...
