Stage 1 tune with an exhaust

    G'day,

Currently have a stage 1 tune but planning on getting an exhaust (down pipe only). The company charges money for a retune though so if I just installed the down pipe and do not get the 'stage 2' updated tune, will it run fine? no problems? Besides for the flashing light on the dash.

    Cheers

For what car? Generally the down pipe does not require coding, changing the cat does.

    It depends on the tune.
Install the DP and monitor your boost to make sure its not overboosting.

Golf GTI, the down pipe has a cat on it but I'm assuming the cat is different to the OEM cat? or the same?

It's the APR tune, didn't want to mention it at the start because i know how fast tuner wars escalate. What are the signs of overboosting?

Bump to the topic, was wondering the same question but getting mixed reviews. MKV GTI with a downpipe and O2 sensor, okay with S1 tune or need an upgrade to S2?

On the FSI cars, there is a specific file for 3" high flow downpipe - more boost / more power!
