I thought it was common knowledge that cars in singapore cost 3x more than what we get here.

Yep, the government has a funky scheme which heavily restricts vehicle ownership through extremely high duties, tariffs, taxes and fees.

on roads (with certificate of entitlement), i would have thought it'd be more.

from what i remember from a car mag i got when i was over there:
- bmw 328i = $270,000
- hsv commodore = $470,000
- mk6 gti = $240,000
- honda jazz 1.3L = $118,000
- some piece of sh7t malaysian car, the cheapest new car you could get on the road in singapore = $95,000

car prices are similar to here, it's just that the government forks you with the COE.

They say the car is scrapped. In reality, the cars usually get exported overseas, especially the old Mercs and Bimmers.South Africa is supposed to be a big market.

Been there a few weeks back, more bmw's, audi's, merc's and supercars on the road than low budget cars.
