    Same question here. Test drove a 2015 manual GTI but looking for a DSG. Can get a good deal on a 2014 so will probably go with that.

    I would be checking the turbo to make sure it is not one of the dodgy ones.

    Volkswagen Mk.7 Golf GTi: turbocharger failure

    For Volkswagen Mk.7 Golf GTi and GTi Performance vehicles manufactured in 2013 and 2014, the turbocharger was susceptible to failure. Specifically, operation of the stop/start system could cause a lack of lubrication such that the bearings could overheat; the axial shaft could then snap and turbine blades could break and enter the engine. If the turbocharger failed, the driver would experience a sudden loss of power. The turbochargers that were susceptible to failure had the following part numbers:

    • 06K 145 702 K (first revision);
    • 06K 145 702 Q (second revision); and,
    • 06K 145 702 R (third revision).

    The part number for the fourth revision turbocharger that was developed to overcome these failures was 06K 145 702 T; it is understood that this turbocharger was introduced in production around mid-2014.

    GTI Performace spec to become the standard for the MY19 update cars due in October - 180kw engine, 7spd DSG, front diff lock and R brakes. Seems some kind of answer to the i30n.

    Hi all,

    Has anyone replaced their front indicator bulbs with LEDs (for the bi-xenon headlight fitting)? Is it a easy install? Thanks!

    Can anyone with a Mk7.5 MY18 GTI Original confirm the model comes with a factory alarm? Half the articles I read say it does the others don't. Thanks in advance.

    I'm just about to upgrade my stock standard 118 TSI to a Mk 7.5 GTI Original...delivery end of the week.
    A good condition Mk 7 GTI would be worth the upgrade from Mk6, but, I'd go over it with an expert.

    Nice, do tell me when you get your car, how much of an upgrade in handlig it is. I test drive a mk7 gti the other day, did not feel like a huge upgrade to me. So im contemplating on wheter i should make the leap or not.

    I had a stage 1 mk6 GTI and almost bought a mk7 GTI but felt as though is wasn’t a big enough improvement so I bought a mk7 R instead. Love it.
