The OBDeleven sofware sucks.
I just watched an update slowly complete to 100%, and now I still get the message :
Please update application !

My version is now 0.9.3.1

As I said I was having the same issue as you but when I did it today I was in the car with the dongle plugged in and ignition on. Once I touched the screen and the update screen disappeared, I was able to log into the app, connect to the dongle/car and then update went through.

This source overcomes the issues caused by geoblocking and absence of OBDeleven app from Google's Play Store in our region.

i have my car to set time via GPS.
But when i travel from Victoria across to South Australia the time zone doesnt update?

Did you drive just across the border into SA, or all the way to Adelaide ?
Does your Nav system correctly show your location deep into SA ?
Maybe the location data doesn't recognise SA time since its a slight anomaly.
GMT +9.5 when most other timezones in the world are GMT +/- an integer.
Sorry I only have ideas, not answers.

Only to Mount Gambier, about 20km
My phone updates straight away.

I have done this mod via OBD eleven and heading across next weekend so ill have to check and see if it works this time.

Difference is your phone will update from the local cell towers Nav will update from satellite
