    Full-size spare tyre and wheel

Wondering if anyone has bought and fitted a full-size spare for their 103TDI 4x4 (with 17" tyres) to replace the ridiculous 16" space saver. I can see the time when I'm way out in the sticks with a flat!

There would be no boot left! I guess you want one of these out of China.

Check out this thread in the Tiguan section for some ideas: Best way to fit a full size spare in the boot

Yes you may sacrifice some boot space but I think it's 100% better than getting stuck driving on a space saver. I'm pretty sure there's limits on km you can travel on a space saver as well as the speed limits.

Thanks tigger - given me some ideas! I'll take a wheel off today and see how it fits in the boot - there are so many bits of polystyrene around the present spare I must be able to use that space....Standing the spare up is an option too, or tucking behind the front seat. Ive seen alloy spare wheels advertised for Yetis at $189 so with a tyre $350 total seems ok....

Tiguan and Yeti share a lot in common mechanically so you should be able to get something similar to work. I'm a big fan of full sized spares particularly if you're travelling outside of metro areas.
