can anyone help me out?
hey guys drove my gf's car the other day, the golf is a gti 06 model dsg whilst driving and backing off the accelerator the car tends to make this winding noise similar to a bearing wear or something its only a light buzzing, i rolled with the car in neutral and still makes the light noise.
i was thinking could be the continental tyres and road noise although, road noise compared to the whining noise i can hear are two totally different things.
can anyone help me out?
It's not the GF making the whining noise?![]()

Don't completely rule out the tyres. My CSC's were very noisy when the tread got lowish. I've also experienced similar noises on previous cars which I was convinced was wheel bearings on the way out until the tyres were replaced and the noise disappeared. If the tyres need replacing, do that first.

lol on the gf making whining noise.
took it to my mechanic, he said to swap the rotate the tyres over. Is there any tyre brands that you guys recommend are good for the gti? looking to spend about 300 max per tyre
hope the wife doesnt read that... lol.
have you just tried putting putting the fronts on the rear and the rears on the fronts?
or borrowing someone elses wheels and tyres just to see if that what it is.
Never hear whining from tyres... normally more a deep drone when they start to play up

Michelin Pilot Sport 3 get good reviews and are about AU$240 a tyre. I'm running them now and its a nice ride.
