Oil Filter Change Help 2.0 FSI (BWA)

**please delete if I have posted this in the wrong section**

I finally got over my fear of climbing underneath my car and am now most of the way through my first DIY oil change.

Upon inspection it appears that whoever worked on my car last over tightened the plastic Oil Filter Housing and shredded the socket bit under the dust cover. I'm also pretty sure this is where most of my oil has been leaking out.

    Some probably dumb questions:
    (I have tried searching)

    1. What would be the best way to go about removing the damaged housing?
    2. Where would be the best place to get a replacement part? (I've mostly sourced parts through Supercheap up until now)

A huge thankyou to anyone who could point me in the right direction here! 😁😁😁

You'll probably need to go to the dealer to source the oil filter housing. You can get them off eBay via China for a lot less, but you'll be waiting a while.

As for removal, try a filter claw on it if the 36mm hex has been trashed. However, if you're in serious doubt about it, maybe get the dealer or independant VW specialist to remove it.

    thankyou for replying so quickly!

I'll give the nearest dealer a shot. I'm in rural vic so I have a feeling I'll be waiting for shipping either way haha.

I've seen some people recommending drilling through the filter housing :/ Not sure how I feel about that haha.

I'll look into a filter claw. Thanks again!
