    Brake light switch?
    Widebody Cayman S Turbo, 83 ur Quattro

    No, the shift lock warning light. (The dashboard light that looks like a green foot symbol that needs to be depressed to start the engine).

    The brake light switch is working since the brake lights work when the brake pedal is pressed.. Thanks

    Have you tried starting the car in Neutral? I wonder if the interlock switch is playing up which doesn't let the car start in Drive or Reverse. Run the gear selector from park to drive a couple of times and then see what happens.

    Turning the brake lights on is only one of jobs especially if its a 4 wire switch.
