Wheel failed causing accident, or as a result of other contact?
Looks like it could be repaired though - mostly cosmetic?

Ok. Well fresh underwear is needed to go with the repairs also then!! And it was a roll-over - which I didn't initially pick from the photos, so I'm guessing it won't be a straight forward repair. Sad to see but glad all involved are ok!

Wakefield not SMSP, Brakes supposedly went but it was being greedy with the T1 curb that flipped it over

Yeah, he's yanking the handbrake and sliding across the infield of the turn then into the sand where it digs in. Not nice.

    Hey guys,

Yes, unfortunately we had a total brake failure at Wakefield Park last year coming into turn2. Video below

Link not working for some reason YouTube

Good news is that a new car is being built and underway, it is off getting the roll cage fitted and painted at the moment, and when it returns all the parts are ready to be put into the car and go racing again.

Staying with a MK5 GTI but have upgraded the brakes to Porsche Boxster 4 piston brembos, as well as a few other upgrades to make the new car better in every way.

Will post up some pics of the finished product

I do a lot of instructing at Wakefield and seen many cars go straight through the sand and make the wall, so having that in my head I tried to get it around the turn as far as possible, unfortunately there is a big dip in the grass on the inside before the kerb which launched the car, when it landed it broke the wheel and kept going over.

I recall that when Golf's were first raced with ABS unpredictable brake failure caused them no end if trouble and they never got to the bottom of it and just gave up racing them. I forget who was racing them but it was a well financed gig and aknown driver and they only stopped because of the brake issues.
