    False low coolant error.

I've had a few False low coolant warning during cold mornings.

A restart of the engine will disable the warning.

Coolant when cold is between min and max.

    How do you fix it?

Had this also but not on cold mornings.

Traced to a faulty sensor in the expansion tank.

Because of the way things are made today, had to replace the whole tank.

I cannot find the invoice but did happen about 5-6 years ago when the Jetta was in a novated lease. No problems since.

The expansion tank isn't that expensive.

Over time gunk builds up on the sensor. I have the same problem in my Occy on cold mornings.
If you can get in and clean the sensor with a tooth brush

    Thanks,

I'll try to clean the sensors this weekend.

Warning only occurs during very cold mornings.

    That was my recollection.

I have found the invoice for the new expansion tank.

At the time the Jetta was 4 1/2 years old, replaced the tank at 120,000km service. Trade price on the invoice listed as $37.45 exc GST. This was in Apr 2011.

Given the failure at this time and distance and the fact the car was serviced every 15,000km at the original dealership while novated, I can only presume that it wasn't gunk related.
