    Front end noise at speed

Our MkV TDI 125KW Golf is has started making a weird noise.

Only hear the noise in motion - you can hear it come in from approx 50km/hr through to about 90km/hr (I suspect it is still there beyond that but wind noise is probably covering it).

Noise appears to be related to wheel speed rather than engine speed - changing gears without changing speed doesn't affect the frequency of the noise, but the frequency certainly changes as you drive faster or slower.

From inside the car the noise seems to be coming from the front end slightly to the right of the centreline.

What do people think - a wheel bearing and just confused about the direction. Differential bearing? Something like that?

Could it be the bearing in the turbo? Presumably frequency there should align with throttle use.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Bookending this - was a wheel bearing. Thanks to Anthony Costello Automotive at Fyshwick for sorting out.
