    Given all that, the only reason you'd fit a bigger MC to the RS is to give a shorter pedal.

    Sorry to take this back a few months….
    As with my near neighbour I am also getting great life out of my brakes – at the 90k service the comment was they were only about 50% worn (diesel & lots of open road work…).
    Have been considering ceramic pads also to reduce dust. However my brother in law who spent a lot of time as track mechanic in his youth says they have no performance when cold and take some time to warm up. Is that still a consideration with modern pads??

    Probably 5 years and 80km later, my Remsa pads and RDA rotors are due for replacement.

    The pads have approx 3mm left but the discs are fine. No warping, shuddering, major scoring on the discs.

    I'm considering ATE ceramic pads and new high carbon rotors only to reduce brake dust. I've also heard because proper ceramic pads are gentle on rotors (but wear out quicker) you can replace the pads without machining the rotors.

    The ATE ceramic pads are bit more durable and will last you easily double what you got from your old pads. The ATE ceramic pads plate the discs and you brake with 2 ceramic surfaces.
    One Octavia that I've fitted ATE ceramics at70kkm came for 250kkm service last week and the pads still have 5mm remai at front and 4mm at the back.Country long distance driver but he also regularly tows the trailer.

    I always thought cermanic wore faster than semi metallic, but is gentler to the discs.

    What discs do you use with ceramic pads?

    Hey mate, I was looking for the ATE slotted rotors for MY15 Octavia RS (front rotors - 340mm) and was told they don't make that particular size.

    I upgraded to larger brakes and took the opportunity to fit ate ceramic pads i used german zimmerman rotors but ate are just as good

    Car stops just as good as stock pedal feel is very nice and progressive just be aware they have a 500km bed in you can see after they are bedded in that they leave a deposit on the rotor so its ceramic vs ceramic in braking very kind on the rotors

    i plan to have my car for a long time and will only need to replace front pads/rotors once in 300,000 klm(will get over 200,000 on 1st set) I think will probably need to do rears twice in that time

    Yes, the pads are easier to source compared to the rotors. I'll be installing Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and ATE ceramic pads this week. Will see how that combination goes!
