    Water pump failure

    Background,

Engine running and occasionally the temp gauge would go to the red, warning beeps and screen come up, coast to the side of the road and then drops. Showing same characteristics as a low coolant issue or vapour lock. Checked the levels when cold and it's fine.

Booked it in and they though they fixed it with some diagnostics.

Came back the next day. Further diagnosis: possible mechanical water pump failure.

    Vehicle is a 2014 vrs diesel (5e) with 60+k.

    Anyone else had this issue?

I had the issue with a Diesel about 6 months ago. Replacement water pump is what's needed. Mine would go up to red, I'd stop until the temperature went down and it would not reoccur on the same trip, but days later it would happen again.

A problem commonly reported for the diesels in the Briskoda forum.
    Petrols are not affected.
